Platform Purpose and Scope
SPEDGenie is designed to operate as an independent SaaS instructional support platform that helps special educators implement High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) more effectively for students with disabilities. Rather than functioning as a curriculum publisher, SPEDGenie is intended to support, align with, scaffold, and enhance existing instructional materials such as Bluebonnet Learning, Eureka Math, Amplify, Wit & Wisdom, CKLA, and district-created curriculum resources.
The platform's purpose is not to reproduce or redistribute copyrighted curriculum content, but to help teachers make rigorous instructional materials more accessible through accommodations, scaffolds, executive functioning supports, visual supports, differentiated lesson frameworks, transition supports, and implementation-ready instructional tools.
SPEDGenie is positioned as an HQIM implementation support platform that helps special educators adapt and operationalize curriculum in real classroom settings while maintaining instructional fidelity. All curriculum content referenced by SPEDGenie remains the intellectual property of its respective publishers. SPEDGenie generates original scaffolds and accessibility supports based on teacher-provided information and does not claim ownership of any third-party curriculum materials.
This model is consistent with other educational technology companion platforms that support curriculum delivery and instructional implementation without claiming ownership of the curriculum itself. SPEDGenie is designed to complement and support existing educational systems while remaining focused on accessibility, instructional implementation, and educator workflow support for special education classrooms.
Intellectual Property
The SPEDGenie platform, its original content, features, and functionality are owned by SPEDGenie LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Curriculum programs referenced within SPEDGenie including but not limited to Bluebonnet Learning, Eureka Math, Amplify, Wit & Wisdom, CKLA, and Carnegie Learning remain the intellectual property of their respective publishers and copyright holders.
SPEDGenie does not reproduce, redistribute, or sublicense any third-party curriculum content. All scaffolds, accessibility tools, vocabulary bridges, writing frames, and instructional supports generated by SPEDGenie are original works created in response to teacher-provided information and do not constitute reproduction of any copyrighted curriculum material.
FERPA Compliance
Important:
SPEDGenie is a teacher productivity tool — NOT a student records system. Teachers must NOT
enter student full names combined with disability diagnoses, Social Security numbers, or any
combination of information that identifies a specific student. Use placeholder names only.
SPEDGenie does not knowingly collect student personally identifiable information (PII) as
defined under FERPA (20 U.S.C. 1232g). Users who input student PII assume full responsibility
for any resulting FERPA violations. See the full Terms PDF for complete FERPA terms.
