Acceptable Use Policy

The standards and expectations for using SPEDGenie™ responsibly as an educational professional.

Effective Date: June 2026  ·  SPEDGenie LLC  ·  Texas City, TX

📖 Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs use of the SPEDGenie™ platform, including all tools, features, AI-generated content, and associated services provided by SPEDGenie LLC.

SPEDGenie is designed exclusively for use by licensed or credentialed educators, school administrators, paraprofessionals, and other authorized school personnel working in special education settings. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to comply with this AUP in addition to SPEDGenie's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

🎯
The Core Principle
SPEDGenie exists to help educators serve students with disabilities more effectively. Every use of the platform should serve that purpose — to support better educational outcomes for students, not to automate professional responsibility away from educators.

✅ Permitted Uses

SPEDGenie is intended for the following lawful educational purposes:

✅ Allowed
Drafting and refining IEP goals, PLAAFP statements, and present levels
Generating accommodation and modification suggestions for review by qualified educators
Creating accessible versions of grade-level curriculum materials
Supporting transition planning under IDEA for eligible students
Coordinating paraprofessional support through the Implementation Dashboard™
Monitoring implementation fidelity and collecting structured session data
Professional development and self-directed educator learning
District pilot and feasibility research with appropriate institutional approval
❌ Not Allowed
Entering student names, dates of birth, addresses, or other PII into any text field
Using AI-generated output as a final IEP document without educator review and professional judgment
Sharing login credentials with unauthorized individuals
Using the platform for any purpose unrelated to legitimate educational services
Attempting to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract platform content or AI outputs at scale
Reproducing or redistributing SPEDGenie content for commercial purposes without written consent
Using the platform to harass, discriminate against, or harm any individual
Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent information to generate educational documents

⚠️ Student Privacy Requirements

⚠️
No Student PII — This Is Non-Negotiable
Users must never enter personally identifiable student information (full name, date of birth, student ID number, address, Social Security number, parent contact details, or any other information that could identify a specific student) into any SPEDGenie text field, upload area, or prompt. Use student codes, initials, or anonymized descriptors at all times.

This requirement applies to:

Violation of this requirement may constitute a FERPA violation and is grounds for immediate account suspension. See SPEDGenie's FERPA Statement for additional guidance.

👩‍🏫 Educator Responsibility and Professional Judgment

Use of SPEDGenie does not diminish or transfer any professional obligation of the educator. Specifically:

  1. Review all AI-generated content. Every goal, accommodation recommendation, PLAAFP suggestion, or transition plan generated by SPEDGenie is a draft. It must be reviewed, edited if necessary, and approved by a qualified educator before use in any official document.
  2. Individualize for the student. AI output reflects patterns across many students. You must adapt any generated content to reflect the unique needs, strengths, present levels, and circumstances of the specific student being served.
  3. Maintain legal compliance. You are responsible for ensuring that any content used in an official IEP, ARD meeting, or educational record complies with IDEA, applicable state regulations, and your district's policies. SPEDGenie does not provide legal advice.
  4. Exercise professional judgment. SPEDGenie is a tool. Professional judgment, ethical responsibility, and knowledge of the student belong to the educator — not to the platform.

🏫 District and Administrator Responsibilities

School administrators and district leaders authorizing SPEDGenie for staff use are responsible for:

🚫 Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension and, where applicable, reporting to relevant authorities:

🚫
Violations May Result In
Immediate account suspension · Termination of access without refund · Notification to the user's school or district · Referral to appropriate legal authorities where required by law
