Configure how student profile data is stored and processed across all campuses. Recommended default: Student Code Mode Only. Districts may configure SPEDGenie to align with local policies and privacy requirements.

Student Profile Storage Mode

Anonymous Mode Only — No student data saved. Session ends, everything disappears. Student Code Mode Only Recommended — Codes only (Student A, GL-7th). Browser storage only. No PII. Allow Named Student Profiles — Requires signed DPA. Enterprise tier only.

⚠️ Named student profiles require a signed Data Processing Agreement. Do not enable without district legal review and an executed DPA with SPEDGenie LLC.

Additional Data Controls

Require teacher review before saving extracted information

Teachers must approve every extracted field before it is saved. Recommended: on.

Restrict personally identifiable information

Hide name, DOB, address, and SSN fields from all input screens across the platform.

Require district-approved storage only

Disable browser localStorage — all data must go through district-approved enterprise storage.

Show FERPA reminder on every student input screen

Display a data privacy notice above every field where staff enter student information.

⚠️ Do not enable document storage unless approved by district policy and a signed agreement is in place. Document storage significantly increases privacy and compliance risk.

Require Policy Reacceptance

If you have updated district-specific notices or need users to reaccept policies, you can require reacceptance on next login. Users will be redirected to the onboarding flow before accessing the platform.

🤖 District AI Governance Settings™

Control how AI services are used within your district. These settings apply to all AI-powered features including IEP Builder, Goal Intelligence, StoryGlyph, Chunking Engine, and Student Intelligence Engine. Districts should consult legal counsel and review Anthropic's privacy terms before enabling AI processing of student-related documents.

AI Transparency Disclosure: SPEDGenie uses Anthropic's Claude API to power AI-assisted features. Anthropic operates under a Zero Data Retention (ZDR) policy — API inputs are not stored or used to train AI models. A PII scrubber runs before any content is sent to the API. District Administrators may configure or restrict AI processing below.

⚠️ Disabling AI features will disable IEP Builder, Goal Generation, StoryGlyph Studio, Chunking Engine, and Student Intelligence extraction. Teachers will still have access to the goal library, forms, and manual entry tools.

Allow teachers to generate IEP goals using the Goal Intelligence Center™.

AI Processing Log

AI Processing Logs track when AI features are used, what type of content was processed, and what feature triggered the API call. No content from API calls is retained in logs — only metadata (timestamp, feature, user role, result status).
